1Commentary by Elaine B. Holtz: This is our last show of March and of Women’s History Month. In 1980, the National Women’s History Project (NWHP) was founded in Santa Rosa, California by Molly Murphy MacGregor, Mary Ruthsdotter, Maria Cuevas, Paula Hammett, and Bette Morgan to broadcast women’s historical achievements.
The NWHP started by leading a coalition that successfully lobbied Congress to designate March as National Women’s History Month, now celebrated across the land.
Today, the NWHP Now the National Women’s History Alliance is known nationally as the only clearinghouse providing information and training in multicultural women’s history for educators, community organizations, and parents-for anyone wanting to expand their understanding of women contributions to U. S. history.  Clck here for the National Women’s History Alliance.

2 Our guest, Dr. Dianna Grayer, shares her journey of self-discovery and expression, in her educational pursuits and therapy, coming out as a Black Lesbian, and helping others be true to their self. Her earlier play Private Lives, Private Lies brought the struggle to the stage of “it’s not just about coming out, it’s about coming as you are.” On April 2, 2022 Dr. Grayer is presenting her play Release: Unearthing the Silent Rumblings, as an honest delving into the difficulties of conversing about race. The play invites discussion among the audience after the performance. The play follows her publication of a children’s book dealing with Black Lives Matter, called Keenah’s First Speech: Our Blackness Will Never Fade, about a little black girl wondering about her place in a society that discriminates according to skin color.  Listen to the interview with Dianna Grayer and discover how she works with her creative spirit.

About our Guest: 2.  Our guest, Dr. Dianna Grayer is a marriage and family counselor specializing in childhood maternal wounding, relationship issues and grief. She has been private practice since 1997. In 1979, she earned her bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University; in 1993 she earned her master’s degree in Counseling from Sonoma State University; and in 2010, she earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Meridian University, where she is now a faculty member. Dianna is experienced in working with children, adults, couples, and families. She is a published author of insightful books for children on racism and self esteem. Dianna is Playwright, Director, Producer with Our Lives Matter Theater Company, presenting her play Release: Unearthing the Silent Rumblings, beginning April 2nd at Congregation Ner Shalom in Cotati.
