1.  Jan Blaock calls in to announce a special event at the Cental Library in Santa Rosa caled the Listening Session for the Voices of Sonoma County Women’s project.  A confidential survey of women will then be presented to the Board of Supervisors. It is a free event this evening Monday January 27th.

About our Guest: Jan Blaock was appointed to the Commission on the Status of Women by first district Supervisor Susan Gorin in 2015. She is a two term Past Chair of the Commission, is a Junior Commission mentor, member of the Sonoma County Human Trafficking Task Force and Northern California Representative for the Association of California Commissions for Women. Jan is a member of the National Association of Commissions for Women and, having successfully launched the Voices of Sonoma County Women Project, was invited to collaborate with the NACW on a National project and was honored to present the project with the team at the 2019 NACW conference in Chicago.

2. Renee Riggs and 3. Cecile Querubin talk about a coming event on Saturday February 1, called Building Neighborhood Power, sponsored by Santa Rosa Together, Santa Rosa Housing For All, the Sonoma Intersections Coalition and the City of Santa Rosa. The workshop will be led by Jim Diers, the former Dir. of the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and Professor at the University of Washington’s Asset-Based Community Development Institute. Jim Diers is a world-renown community builder, who will help neighborhoods define their vision to better help policymakers and developers satisfy their dreams for the neighborhood.

About our Guest: Renee Riggs is a Santa Rosa resident for the past 12 years. She works to organize neighborhoods with the goal of influencing public policy that impacts where we live. She is involved in several civic endeavors including, Southeast Greenway, Santa Rosa Together and local political and bond measures. I first met Renee when she did a meet up with Santa Rosa City Council where she put me to work as a volunteer greeting and meeting people and for the next several years I was on her list and enjoyed every moment supporting and helping her whenever I got the call. We need more Renee Riggs in our community.

About our Guest: Cecile Querubin has a passion for community outreach and engagement. Cecile engages community members in productive work to help residents understand the needs of their own neighborhoods, learning the long-term and fulfilling commitment to engaging in democracy.
She holds a MA in Psychology with an emphasis in Organization Development from Sonoma State University, works at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where she facilitates leadership development, enrichment, and learning and engagement programs. She has spent the past ten years working with nonprofits and community organizations on issues of homelessness, equity, transparency and collaborative teamwork with groups such as Santa Rosa Together and as a member of the Community Advisory Board of Santa Rosa.
