Kailea came to the studio with her 15 month old boy Nakash Loften and during the broadcast Kerry and Amber took turns attending to Nakash to relieve Kailea when she spoke.  They talk about ongoing Climate Change activites in Sonoma County, especially those this week in preparation for the Global Climate Strike on Friday September 20,2019 and the UN Global Climate Change Summit on September 23.  Greta Thiunberg, the Swedish teenager who protested in front of the Swedish Parliament for years, has sailed across the ocean to join the Global Climate Strike in New York and the Summit at the UN. Our guest talk about Greta’s impact locally with the Sunrise Movement and Youth vs.Apocalypse among our youth concerned for their future.  For our county, our guests encourage us to atrtend the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday morning at 8:30 as the Climate Emergency Resolution is considered.  On Friday September 20, people will gather for the Global Climate Strike from noon to 2 PM at Old Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa.

About our Guest: Kerry Fugett works at Daily Acts, where she manages the Leadership Institute for Just and Resilient Communities and the Climate campaign programs. She is a graduate from UC San Diego with a BS in Physiology and Neuroscience. She spent time as a field biologist researching the impacts of development on wildlife in Equatorial Guinea and Ecuador. she served as Executive Director of Sonoma County Conservation Action, an environmental policy and advocacy organization AND IS passionate about empowering and connecting leaders to build the tools and practices needed to co-create a healthy, just and resilient communities and people.

About our Guest: Amber Szoboszlai is a community organizer and queer scientist who has studied climate change in the ocean. Co-chair of North Bay Organizing Project (NBOP) Petaluma and a steering committee member of Bike Petaluma, she works to foster dialogue that supports working class and minority communities in Petaluma.

About our Guest: Kailea Frederick is a mother and First Nations womxn dedicated to supporting individuals in remembering their relationship to the earth. She is a graduate of the International Youth Initiative Program, a Spiritual Ecology Fellow and has served twice as a youth delegate the United Nations Climate Change Conferences (COP 21 & 22). Currently she teaches classes on earth stewardship through her project Earth Is `Ohana and is a board member with Black Mountain Circle. She currently lives in Petaluma, California with her partner, Adam Loften and their child.
