 2. Caitlin Quinn and 3. Zach Neeley talk about the need for parents to talk to their children about sex at appropriate times.  Especially the role of consent in sexual activity needs to be discussed. This is  relevant given the recent mass killings by men obsessing over their frustration with their relationships with women. The whole Verity team is passionate about ending sexual violence in Sonoma County and all over the world. Both Caitlin and Zach will be facilitating a workshop for Parents and their teenagers How to Talk about Consent on Monday November 12th at the Sonoma County Library Santa Rosa Central Branch, 211 E St, at 7 – 8:30 PM.

About our Guest: Caitlin Quinn was raised in Sonoma County and attended UC Berkeley, where she became involved in anti-sexual violence work and was one of 31 students who filed a Title IX complaint against the university in 2013. Caitlin handles all of Verity’s communications work while supporting the administrative side of things.

About our Guest: Zach Neeley was raised in Texas and earned his JD from Fordham University in New York. He practiced law in New York and California before joining the Verity team. Zach provides prevention education throughout the county to kids, teens, and adults in classrooms and community groups all over.

4. Georgia Kelly talks about her work in Conflict Resolution by Effective Communication.   Realizing the role of pride and overcoming its often immediate reactions is a big consideration, as are setting boundaries.  Georgia will be givng a workshop this coming Saturday, November 10th at the Sonoma Community Center from 12 noon to 5 PM. About our Guest: Georgia Kelly has a certificate in Conflict Resolution from Sonoma State University and has continued studies in the field with cultural anthropologist Angeles Arrien and Norwegian peace negotiator Johann Galtung. She has been deeply influenced by the inspiring work and writings of Jonan Fernandez, Director of the Department of Coexistence and Human Rights in the Basque Parliament in Spain. Georgia has directed think tank projects for Praxis and teaches conflict resolution workshops. In 2013, she edited and co-authored a cooperative book, Uncivil Liberties: Deconstructing Libertarianism, that is available online and through Praxis. She also writes a blog for the Huffington Post. Prior to founding Praxis, Georgia was a professional musician (harpist, composer, and recording artist). She is a member of TRANSCEND International, a Peace Development Environment Network. She is Founder and Executive Director of Praxis Peace Institute
